The Michigan State Police Traffic Crash Purchasing System (TCPS) provides traffic crash reports for a fee. TCPS provides a convenient way to obtain a crash report without leaving home.
Accident reports from crashes that occurred on private property are currently not available online. Please contact the police department during office hours for additional information on private property accident reports.

In pursuit of excellence, the Alma Police Department received accreditation status in October of 2022. The accrediting body, the Michigan Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (MLEAC) provides guidance and sets rigorous standards that departments must adhere to in order to maintain it's accreditation.

Sec. 54-57. Parking prohibited during specified months.
It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle on any street between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from the first day of November in each year to the first day of April in the next succeeding year. The streets around the Alma College area are signed for no overnight parking between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. from the first day of September in each year to the twentieth day of May in the next succeeding year.
Sec. 54-106. Established; supervision, control by chief of police.
A parking violations bureau for the purpose of handling alleged parking violations within the city is hereby established. The parking violations bureau shall be under the supervision and control of the chief of police.
Sec. 54-110. Offenses; penalties.
Any person who violates this Article is responsible for a municipal civil infraction and subject to the civil fines enumerated in Chapter 30 (Below). If unpaid within 10 days of notice, each civil fine specified in Chapter 30 shall be doubled. Any vehicle whose registered owner has been the subject of 5 or more default judgments of responsibility for a civil infraction under this Article shall be subject to impound, and shall not be released to its owner until each such judgement is satisfied and all cost of impound are paid.
Common Parking Violations
Parking between the hours of 2am-7am during prohibited months - $25
Parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant- $25
Parking on private property without owner's consent - $25
Parking in marked handicapped spot - $50
Parking in front of theater - $25
Parking too far from curb - $25
Parking in front of private drive - $25
Parking where official signs prohibit parking (other than handicapped parking)- $25
Parking on wrong side of street- $25
Parking between sidewalk and curb - $25
Parking overnight in one of the municipal lots downtown Alma is easy and affordable. If you live within the Downtown Development Authority District a yearly permit is only $50. If you live outside of the Downtown Development Authority District you can still park overnight but it will cost $160 yearly for the permit.
If you park in a municipal lot overnight without a permit you may receive a $25 fine. When parking overnight, you must park in the designated areas, located to the back of the lots. If you have a permit and do not park with the designated area, you may receive a $25 fine. Please look for these signs and park between them.
